How do I make one of these?

(1/3) > >>

Ryan Jacob:
I recently went to my uncles house and this caught my interest.

How do I make a better one of these for myself and what are they used for? When I asked him he said
“either a tool or a weapon”. Also, what type of shell do you think this is from? It’s pretty thick and has a pretty good edge. (the pic was taken wrong so the slight twist is exaggerated)

sleek:
Resembles a hoe to me. And any tool can make a weapon so, technical he wouldnt be wrong.

Zuma:
If it had a stone bit I would call it an adz but it's pretty fancy for
a menial tool  like that or a hoe. imo??? ???

Pat B:
Rawhide is good for attaching the working end to this adze or hoe. Wet the rawhide, stretch it and wrap as tight as you can. When the rawhide dries it will draw up and seize the working end to the handle.

Hawkdancer:
How big is it?  I would think it is a scraper or engraver of some sort.  Can't tell about the shell, mussel, clam, oyster, maybe, depending on where the item is from.
