Stone on bone
(1/1)
bjrogg:
An Obsidian blade on a deer leg bone. I ground and sanded bone down to size I liked. Halvted with pine pitch glue

Real neat! Btw, are pine pitch and brewer's pitch the same? Got brewer's pitch, got pine tar! Thanks!

Hawkdancer I'm guessing since I've never actually seen or used pine tar, or brewers pitch. I'm thinking your talking about what baseball players use? I would guess that it has Pine pitch or sap in it recipe but probably other ingredients also. It seems more like soft sap. What I make is hard pitch sap that hardened that I heat just enough to make liquid. I mix in a little charcoal and bees wax to make it less brittle and give it a binder. It is very sticky when warm but hard and not at all sticky when cold. It is a very good glue when mixed properly and can be reheated to better align or switch out points. It's also faster than 5 min epoxy. I really like using it.
