Deer tine flaking

bjrogg:
Those are some very nice flakes. I'm thinking I should maybe give white tail Antler another try. I've tried it before in the summer but I think the humidity maybe effected them. They just seemed kind of rubbery. Haven't tried in quite some time.
Thanks for sharing AncientTech.

AncientTech:
It is not billet work.  I only use the tip of the deer tine.

AncientTech when I last tried it was shortly after I started knapping. I didn't use billets just tines for pressure flaking. We had avery humid summer and the tine seemed soft and rubbery. I believe since then I've read that sometimes they need to be dried by a fire or in a oven. I'm thinking just being inside shop in the winter they would dry out good. Have to give it another try.

PS is this pressure or punch?

JEB:
Interesting post. Do you know the type of rock and if it has been cooked or not.
