...well, my first bow back after several months of not being able to work on anything.

My first project is a Red Oak one, not the perfect board (quite a few run offs) will be backed eventually ( I got a new idea about this )

I was really sick this week, so yesterday was the first time I could put a rasp to it.

this is how it looked this morning,..still using the fine side of the ferrier rasp at the moment, it floor tillers really strong still

this is the morning view from my fair weather working area

had to go to work all day,..but lets see what tomorrow brings

Being rasping and scraping for a couple of hours today ( what a plesure to work wood with hand tools is, so relaxing, time just flys)

I think I pretty much got to the desired profile ( once I put the backing on, because of all the run offs it's gonna go to a certain extent on the side of the limbs, so I'll want to avoid side tillering)

it still floor tillers a bit strong, I'll go work on it a bit and when it gets dark I'll start the reflexing/belly tempering stage.

now she rests, after belly tempering and refexing, tomorrow nt Ill do a moe inense belly tempering,paying more attention now that i don' have to do any bending

So you can make a bow outta a straight piece of wood...I didn't know that! Always learning something new on PA...what a great site!
