JEB:
I would like to make some flint strikers but don't have a forge.  Can I buy some 1/4" metal stock and use a MAP gas torch to heat and bend the 1/4" stock.  And if so, then what would I do?

Maybe someone can do a "how to" for us that don;t have all the correct equipment and any knowledge of this craft.

Thanks mods for this new discussion area.

If you use a hi carbon steel, the stuff that you get at the stores is low carbon and won't harden. If you can get an old USA made file that should work,  have you got a charcoal grill? That and a hair drier will get you plenty hot

Bryce:
You can go to the scrap yard and find some decent steel for strikers even old railroad spikes work great. Just make sure you harden that steel back up :)
