2018 Non-Invitational Trade
« on: March 04, 2018, 11:22:48 am »
OK everyone, time to think about this year's Non-Invitational Bow Trade. I'm prepared to run it, but is there anyone out there who fancies taking it on?

Sorry im still kinda new to PA forums.  How does this event work, is it a physical event that takes place somewhere or a thing done online where people trade bows?

Think Secret Santa. You get given a randomly selected Trade member with his draw weight and length. You make him the best bow you can. Meanwhile someone else, you don't know who, does the same for you. Only proviso if I run it this year is all Trade members must have posted at least one bow to PA in order to be accepted.
This is the 2017 trade, it's still kinda going with two of the guys having had some demanding builds

What is the best way to shop a finished bow and a rough estimate of cost to ship in continental US? When would the deadline be?

Deadline and rules are set by whoever acts as Admin. The 2017 trade had a 6 month duration. Can't comment as to US shipping costs, sorry. A length of 4" plastic pipe, with the bow bubble wrapped works well.

I’m looking forward to the trade starting up again. It’s always a lot of fun. I usually ship in a 4” pvc pipe. For the pipe and caps it usually between $10-20 depending on where I source them. And the shipping is typically $20-30 depending on where it goes.

Be thankful you live in the States(at least for shipping), up here it's $50 to ship it across the street :D :D

I'd love to participate in a trade, if anyone else living in Australia is interested. I don't think I could conceivably participate in the US based one.

It would be kinda cool to have an Australasian group, a European group and a North American group, if enough people put their names forward...

Well, I have been waiting to see if anyone else is wanting to do this but I see no one else has jumped in.  I will be willing to run this for 2018.  I will get a new post up hopefully later today with sign up and rules.  I am looking forward to a great trade this year.  Thanks for all your work with the trade last year stuck.  I couldn't participate but I followed it and enjoyed watching.
