I finally found some hophornbeam here in South Western Manitoba!what's the best time to cut and handle?thxs bush!
Some like motorboats,I like kayaks,some like guns,I like bows,but not the wheelie type.

Wait for the sap to flow so the bark and sapwood come off on their own. If not, its very, very difficult to knife it off without breaking a ring, the back is muscly like many others in that family.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

I prefer to cut it in fall-winter or just as the sap starts rising in spring.
