Mexican Green  is somewhat rare .  The 80 lb. spall I got was totally dehydrated.
It would splinter into a million needles just abrading the edge. I have had
some dried out dacite. A little heat helps. Most lava has seen 3,000 degrees
so how can 500 hurt?

So it helped make it less brittle? Ooooh, now I wonder if soaking flakes before knapping would make it more durable

Zuma:
The theory behind soaking or licking flakes before
detachment is to fill in any tiny voids so the flake
force is uninterrupted. ??? Soaking is good. Some bury material.
