Kitchen Knife

(1/2) > >>

Marc St Louis:
My wife and I went for a walk down the road a couple months ago.  As we were going along my wife spotted something in the ditch about 100 yards from our house.  She looked at me and said she could see a knife blade.  I said it couldn't be but sure enough that is what it was.  It was a cheap kitchen knife with about an 8" blade that somebody had broken the handle on and pitched in the ditch.  I'm not someone to let something go to waste so I brought it back home and fixed it up.

osage outlaw:
Nice job.  What did you use for the handle?

Pat B:
Nice recovery on that old knife. Looks like a good size for the kitchen.

DC:
Nice job Marc. Maybe it's a murder weapon someone ditched :)(bad pun)

Marc St Louis:
The handle is Buckthorn

It was one of those inexpensive knifes with nothing more than a short 2 1/2" tang going into a molded plastic handle, probably one of the reasons it broke.  I ground the blade to add another 1/2" to the tang then inlaid that into the wood.  The blade holds an edge fairly well and it is a good length for a kitchen knife.

Haven't heard of anyone being killed by a knife around here, not lately anyway, but you never know
