Aspen wood
			ksnow:

Is Aspen wood any good for arrow shafting? We lost a ton of them in the recent storms here in WI and I'd hate to see all the timber just rot.
I know poplar is good, but I believe that is tulip polar. We call the aspen: popple or poplar here in WI.
Thanks,
Kyle

I think it would be worth a shot Kyle. It seems I've seen places sell aspen shafts.

There's enough downed aspen to make arrows for the battles at Agincourt, Crecy and Poitiers. I'll cut a few 4 foot lengths and see what I can do out of it.

I have an Art Butner aspen arrow with black walnut self nock and 4 point black walnut footing. If I remember correctly Art likes aspen pretty much for arrows. That would be good enough for me.  :OK

I have found aspen to be very similar to red osier.  Aspen works great for arrow shafts.
