My 2 cents...I’d pass on the obsidian and order Georgetown...maybe Dacite to learn on.  Glass is a pain in the rear.  But it flakes easy and is sharp.

I really cut my teeth on G’town.  It breaks predictably and allows you to see your successes and mistakes.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Steve, I've been wanting to get some Georgetown myself. Haven't looked in awhile but couldn't seem to find any last time I did. Any hints on where to find some. It does look slick.

In the beginning you will waste alot of material
glass looks like a good starting point. It will teach you the basics.
wear goggles and some finger protections
