First shed of the year

My wife let the dogs out to go to the bathroom and play in the snow today.  One of them found this shed antler.  I saw 3 bucks beside the house 2 nights ago and one of them only had 1 antler when it ran off.  It must have dropped it before it took off.  I think I'm going to take that dog on some walks in the woods and see if it can find some more.

Hawkdancer:
Cool find!  I saw a couple younger bulls in town last week, both still had their antlers.  I think we may not see shedding until mid February or so.

Did you praise him up good and give him a treat? I've heard of shed dogs before. Would love to have one.

She got a lot of praise and a treat.  I have always wanted to train a dog on how to find sheds but I don't know how to do it.  I had a basset hound when I was younger.  She brought home a shed and a skull with one antler still attached.

BowEd:
Cool Clint.I'll have to keep a look out here too. There's a fella by me that raises and trains labs to find sheds. They'll bring them back to him.A retrieving characteristic of them.Maybe your dog will do that for ya.I think if he or she finds out you want to look for those she'll look for them too.Hope she don't like to chase deer though while shed hunting though...Ha Ha.She probably will just only bump one a block or so and that's about it if she does. Not a full blown wide open chase for a mile or two.
