Snowflake Obsidian

<< < (2/3) > >>

YosemiteBen:
OK - one more time - Snowflake obsidian does NOT have ash pockets. It DOES have a mineral called cristobalite in the glass matrix. Either way it is a pain in the butt to knap. The point looks good. If I was at work I could post a pick of one I made years ago from a small slab which is the best way to knap TRUE snow flake obs.

Outbackbob48:
Ben , thanks for the info on the snowflake, learned something new today. Like ya say can be a pain to knap. Bob

JEB:
Interesting

Ben made me look that one up. I always thought it was ash pockets also.

Hawkdancer:
Hee! Hee!   >:D cI didn't know what the heck it was!  Other than cool!  Thanks for the info!
Hawkdancer

Zuma:
Bob forgive me but you need to post anything that includes the letters snow more in the summertime.  This time of year we should be posting volcanic material and rock right out of heat treatment. Real nice point btw. (=) (=) (=)
