So i found a long, 8 inch...ish, complete bone in the sand. It js mostly black with white cream color. Its light weight and solid, but because of how ligjt it is, i wonder if its fossilized all the way through. So, an attempt to age it, how long does it take a bone to turn black in the ocean? Coastal nc.

A little thought and research went a long way to id it. Now that its dried out, it rattles full of sand. Figured its hollow and a bird bone. Only bird this size I could think of was a pelican. I looked up pelican wing bone and got this link.

Exact match. Only, mine is the left wing. So now im left to wonder how old it is. Im going to the local museum tomorrow.
