can anyone id this? it is an ornamental small tree about 12-16 ft high

We have these here .  Some sort of ornamental Cherry or hybrid like Purpleleaf Sand Cherry.   Not a very hardy tree.

Might be chokecherry, but I don't recollect the leaves turning that color!   Take a very small taste of the fruit and check the pits.  If you don't die, it maybe useable >:D (lol) >:D!  If the wood is hard, and the flowers are white, it is probably in the cherry family - maybe!
