rawhide sheath..

What kind of rawhide did you use? The deer hides I have just seem way to thin for me and I doubt they could server as a welt. Being so thin the knife bade is likely to slide right in to the stitching.

I have made two sheaths so far and used 8oz leather for them. I wanted to use the deer hides I have, but have thought about saving a ground hog hide to try.
