Varathane won't dry
DC:
Three days ago I made bow rack from Maple from an old bed. I stained it with Watco Black Walnut stain. I let it dry for most of the day and then coated it with gloss Varathane. It is still tacky. Yesterday my wife coated a window frame with the same can of Varathane. This morning it's dry. The only thing I can see is that I didn't let the stain dry long enough before I Varathaned. Anyway, is there anything I can do to get it dry other than wait. I've had it sitting in front of the stove for two days.

Short of sanding it off I don't know. Just a guess though.
Hawkdancer:
Not familiar with the Watco stains, but if they are oil based, you could have a problem. I think the oil based stains have to be thoroughly dry before sealing.

It was sitting in front of the stove and I remembered that the stove has a fan. We leave it off cause it's noisy. I turned it on and the extra air movement dried it enough in a couple of hours to hang it up. Thirty-six bows on this one and there's another down the hall with twenty on it. This is silly :D
