Bamboo shafts
mullet:
Here's one that hasn't been asked; does anyone know where to get some bamboo shafts in the 40" range? I need some arrows for my 7' 6" Yumi bow. The ones I'm shooting now are over a hundred years old and I've broke one already. So, I want to make my own so I don't end up destroying the set. I don't think I can come by any now with Japanese Sea Eagle feathers.
I've found Tonkin on line but they are expensive and mismatched weights. I'm also looking for carbons in the same length.
DC:
Garden center stakes? They come in 48".
Eric Krewson:
Contact Japp Koppedrayer at Yumi Bows, he sells the proper shafting that he grows himself. Be prepared to get off your wallet but his stuff is topnotch.
He used to set up booth at The Hill shoot and sell bows, bow building materials and shafting as well as give demonstrations on building and shooting a yumi bow complete with all the ritual.

I've talked to Jaap on Facebook. been holding out looking for a cheaper alternative. I do have a place to buy arrows for $45 a piece. Jaap only lives a few hours from me and I might have to make a road trip and drop by and see him.

Sounds wild ( but fishing rod blanks)?
