Sinew backed erc build a long/ how to

(1/2) > >>

Jakesnyder:
I am going to do my first build along. I got a nice heart wood only eastern red cedar stave that I'm going to be making a sinew backed bendy handle bow.
The how to part is where the large snapping turtle comes in to play. This is going to be a little bit of learning for me as well but I am planning the tail for a handle grip and the neck for a string.

Jakesnyder:
Also this snapping turtle was taken following all fish and wildlife regulations.

Worked down the stave a little bit more. It only allowed me to get 1 3/8 wide so I am making it 58" long. 1 3/8 wide at the center strait taper to 5/8 wide at the tips. Looking to get 50 lbs at 24".  Any comments would be helpful. Does it sound like a good plan or does that sound like the sinew wouldnt work hard enough?
Got the snapper skinned out and salted. Just salted it to help dry it out

Pat B:
I'd leave it full width the whole length then taper the last 6" of each limb tip and probably kick the tips up a bit.
