Give it a try! Worst that happens is you throw it away. No matter what, you come out with more knowledge.
I probably destroy 5% of my blades in deliberate destructive testing. Making a new sort of knife is really only another form of testing. The end goal is knowing exactly how a knife will perform because you test your blades. Here, it is more like testing your assembly process.
The tricky bits are placing the stop pin and peening the pivot pin. Stop pin has to be in the right place, pivot has to be secure enough to keep the blade from wobbling but not tight enough to make it a permanent fixed blade.
And you don’t have to make a sheath!
