Horn!!!!

DC:
Well, I called my own bluff and ordered some horn from Vietnam. I ordered it last Wed morning and received it just now. It looks good but I don't know anything about horn. It's all cut .4"(1cm) thick and 1 3/4"(4cm) wide. The longest is 31" and shortest is 27". It thins out toward the base of the horn. How thin can the thinnest part be when I'm cutting the finished pieces?

Pat B:
DC, please do a build along preparing and using the horn. I have a horn bow in my future so it would be a big help.

gorazd:

The thinnest part will go on the siyahs... more important is enough thickness left in the bending part of the horn - there should be at least 5-6mm ... considering that you must sand both parts to be of the equal thickness along whole length. And during this sanding you will loose some thickness...

I was hoping someone else had done one. I'm going in absolutely blind. I think I'll bite the bullet and get Adams book.
