Pat B:
While going through the binder I'm offering as a giveaway below I found this poem I had written years ago. Thought y'all might like it...

The reason I quit shooting a compound
is the copious amounts of beard hair found
at the nock on the string
  from the arrows I'd fling
so a bandanna was used as a beard bound

...if anyone else has one, please add it here.

Make music and sing
Use a bow arrow and string

A fella on another site had made a particularly striking silk backed bow that I quite liked. So I wrote this goofy thing to play around a bit

ODE to thee oh ye O beatiful bow
How dost thy curves so beautifully flow,
Exqusitness such as yours is not easliy matched
Bend back my love and thine arrows cast.

Your backing of silk and your ivory tips
Words to describe you hardly can leave my lips
I reach to the depths of my very humanity
And know that you have given me sanity

Let the touch of your string bless my fingers
Your arrow to my mouth and the moment linger
Until your sometimes friend and I do part
And he make his impression on my mark.

May my aim be straight and true
As the skill that molded you
Oneday a bow like you shall be mine
And I'll need not St. Valentine.

Russ:
Oh the bow for young and old
its limbs and power foretold
crafted and shaven
its given a haven
in the hands of a bowyer
who is smart and sober
who gave it life from a stick
