Bracelet?
« on: July 30, 2019, 09:08:23 am »
Anyone know where I can get some instruction on weaving a bracelet for a gal out of hair from a donkey.  Sounds funny but right now her pet is her best friend as she struggles thru a pretty bad divorce. She has really been a good friend to me as I struggle with the loss of my wife. I knapped her a stone arrowhead necklace but that isn't the same. I thought she would get a smile out of wearing a bracelet made from the hair of her best friend in life right now. Yes, that would be  her donkey. lol

Any direction on this would be appreciated.

They should be interchangeable.  Mane or tail hair should work, getting in close to snip the tail hair might be interesting, though!  Very worthwhile project for a friend!  Good for you, and the Best for your friend!

My project has been put on hold. My friend says that her donkey needs his tail this time of the year to swat flies. Then she laughed and told me I was a city boy..

We both got a kick out of that. And she is right, I live in the city and don't know much about country livin.  We decided I would make the bracelet in the late fall.

You can get some horse hair to practice with from a violin supply store.  Violin bows are horse hair and need to be replaced fairly often.  Try Wood Violin Shop or bow rehiring supplies.  Sounds like you have a neat friend there!

I have a horse hair hat band that's absolutely wonderful. Aside from a bracelet,  perhaps a hat band or tassel may also be appreciated for a cowgirl hat?
