Composite bow with long stiff riser?

<< < (2/3) > >>

loefflerchuck:
With the levers on a short composite you don't get the finger pinch.

bownarra:
None of those bows have long stiff risers.....they have long stiff outer limbs ;)
Bear in mind that the accepted bow length to drawlength ratio is 1.6.
48 inch bow / 1.6 = 30 inch drawlength. You can stretch it a bit but why remake the mistakes of history ;)
the main thing people do wrong on their first composite is they make it far too long.

bownarra:
And what Loefflerchuck said :)

Chuck.e.b:
What is the downside to making one? Same amount of horn, tip length and rigidity, just longer fades. Is it just a horse thing?

I don’t get the finger pinch thing. If it’s there on a 60” recurve how would it not be there on a 48” composite? The string angle on the recurve is still bigger even with the long rigid siyah in composite.

Chuck.e.b:
I basically want to build a reflex long bow out of horn, wood, and sinew. It will have rigid thin limb tips kinda like a siyah but all one piece.
