Back to work on a horn project - horn body finished

After taking far too long of a hiatus, I am back in the shop on the next phase of the job - setting the plug in the base. The horn had slowly gone back to the natural oval shape and needed to be warmed up to a plastic state where it would conform to the round walnut plug. I cheated by using a little two part epoxy to get a good seal.

Five minute Devcon did the trick fast and permanent.

Horn question - is a threaded 2 piece base cap for filling the horn authentic?  If so, about when did that develop?
