simple osage with sinew string
« on: March 24, 2020, 07:44:04 pm »
Been a while since i posted anything. Been making a bunch and thought this would be a good one to post. From dead standing stuff and had been roughed out and sitting in the corner for years. About 60" long and 40 to 45 at 26". 2 ply sinew string. Homemade braintan handle wrap. Sinew from pearly drums and fresh deer hide from badly bent. Thanks for looking.

Nice - there is a bit more going on profile-wise than just a stick, but it still LOOKS really simple.  That's the same look my dog has when any sort of meat processing is going on...

Beauty! A classy primitive from a knotty stave. You did great all around and the sinew string is the topping.

Another fine bow my friend. You can have that string though :)

I don't know. This is probably the fifth or sixth one I've made and I feel like I I'm getting better at them. I believe the prior ones I twisted too much which gave it some stretch. Honestly I don't think this string any worse than a thick b50. I like all kinds of bows but I have a certain Nostalgia for the real primitive ones
