My preferred method of heating stone is in the ground .... when I have the time. But I have heated a lot of stone w/ a turkey roaster. If you take the pan out. Bed the bottom w/ a lil bit of sand or dirt it will just barely get to 500* . With the pan in only about 450*
It’s easier to control the heating times on larger stones to lessen the chance of crazing.   It’s even works on most low grade stones.

I've used a Black&Decker toaster oven for years, on the second one now. I bought both at Flea markets for $5 a piece. It gets up to 550 degrees and works for most of the rock I need to cook.
