Yep, no turkeys around here, and pheasants are out of season.  Just as well--pheasants are great eating, but plucking one always felt sort of like scraping the Mona Lisa.  A few minutes before I grabbed my camera, he was just shining in the sun.  There aren't too many birds that can hang with a rooster pheasant in the looks department.

Seeing as how they are from china it is surprising that the same dim whits that are accosting asian people on the streets haven't declared war on them

well i dont pluck them. I want to try but my hunting buddies never do. I just take the pheasant, put its back on the ground, step on the wings as close to the body as i can, take the legs and pull. out comes the guts, then i tear the skin off of it, exposing the breast. i cut the breast out and then move on to the legs.
