Dimensions of solid flu flu fletching

Hello,

I am making a three fletch flu flu arrow.  The length of each fletching is 5 inches.  The fletching are quite wide, maybe too wide.  What is the width of a typical flu flu fletching?

full width. Flu flus are wide to slow the arrow down. You can adjust the distance the arrow will cover by adjusting the fletch height and the amount of helical added. You can also use one full length fletch and wrap it around the shaft for an effective flu flu.

Anyone know where the name "flu flu" came from? There's got to be a story.

The Witchery of Archery”, first published in 1878. Among the pages of this marvellous little book, the origin of the word flu-flu became clear. In chapter XIV Maurice accounts for an adventure where he spent “three weeks of savage life” with a Native American whom he named Tommy. On page 204 Maurice remarks, upon viewing some of Tommy’s arrows: “He had a very broad-feathered arrow which he had named ‘floo-hoo’, on account of a peculiar roaring sound it made while flying through the air.” This arrow Tommy used to successfully shoot birds on the wing
