Drew an Antelope tag in Wyoming

(1/3) > >>

razorsharptokill:
It looks like I will be driving from Oklahoma to Wyoming as there are now no flights into Cheyenne apparently. If that stays the same I will be hunting with an Osage selfbow and cane arrows from Khans instead of a takedown Hoyt Gamemaster and Easton FMJs.

Any trad archery antelope would be great in my book but taken with a selfbow, THAT would be awesome!

Azmdted:
Any excuse to go to Wyoming is a good one in my book.  Best of luck hunting there.  Have you had experience chasing them with a bow?  I've done it in Arizona.  Those suckers have something like 8 power binocular vision and where they are there aren't many trees or bushes.  I did a lot of low crawling amongst rattlesnakes in southern Arizona when I did my archery antelope hunt.  But they are curious, so don't rule out:  Ambling, white hankies on a stick, and a 2 dimensional decoy.  On the plus side, they are out all day long.

I envy you, congratulations.

JW_Halverson:
What part of WY are you going to be hunting?

Hawkdancer:
You can fly from OKC to Denver and then to Cheyenne.  Driving is somewhat scenic if you go west to be I25 then north.

I've got 2 P&Y speed goats with trad gear Martin Hatfeild with POC arrows. Get a good decoy Mel Dutton if they still make them also a call will help. If someone comes with to be your decoy man it helps teamwork. I live where I hunt them. Alberta Canada. I'm lucky that way, can be choosy and have time to do spotting. Good optics help. Good luck They are the funnest critter to hunt. Love it when they charge the decoy.
Thanks Leroy
