Keep him busy!  They are smart dogs and like Mullet said, they will try to outsmart you!  Time to start on the basic commands, and retrieving, but no tug of war or chewing!  Nice looking pup!

Hawk, the hardest thing I had to teach my lab was not to retrieve. Everyone wanted to make him do it and he was always eager to comply. Retrieving is so natural for a lab.
Honoring and retrieving only on command is something that has to be trained if you want to use the lab while hunting.

DC:
They can drive you nuts if they get fetch crazy. Friends had a wonderful Lab that just wouldn't leave you alone. Constantly dropping his ball on your foot :D :D

...Then there's when they start retrieving the sapling trees and shrubs you just planted.  We're working on it.  Tayo is a pretty hard-headed little cuss, which can translate into some good tenacity once they understand who's in charge.
