Arrows for heavy bows?

(1/1)

Mafort:
So for those who shoot heavy bows. How would you figure the spine for your arrows? Does that change? Is there a certain diameter you go for? Also can anyone post pictures for inspiration? I know I’ll need to reinforce the string nock. I’m aiming for a 100lb warbow but I’m unsure as to how to build the arrows.

Pat B:
If you'll be shooting your bow as a war bow I don't think spine is critical. Arrows for war bows can be up to 1/2" diameter and 30+" long.
Since you want arrows for a war bow I'll move this to "War Bows" if you'd like or you can post it there also. That's where you'll get your most informative answer.

Mikkolaht:
I go for 12mm at tip and the last 2/3rds tapers evenly to 8mm at nocking point.
Regular pine shafts.
They shoot well at 30 inches long from a +120lb bow.
I don't measure spine at all on those,I only test the shafts bending with my hands.
If they are stiff enough i use them.
