Maple longbow "Rose"
« on: September 19, 2020, 07:45:52 am »
Hi!

Today I'd like to show you  my newest creation. It is made from the maple wood I got 1,5 year ago. The stave was very wonky and knotty. There are twists on both limbs and a few serious knots. Tillering this buddy was challenging but it came out pretty great. I used Bog Oak for tips reinforcement and arrow pass. I burned its name "Rose" under the handle. Two coats of linseed oil and one coat of varnish out there.

45lbs at 26", max 27",  64" ntn. Rounded belly.

Hope you doing well and arrows are flying straight  (SH)

Have a great day!

I love the natural look of the wood! To my eye, this looks truly primitive without being crude or poorly made. I got nothing to say about the tiller, what is there to say when it's that good?  This one ought to serve you for a long time to come!
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Thank you for your comments guys!
Agree, it has kinda primitive look and that's what I love about this bow. From time to time I intentionally build a bow from such full of character staves.  )W(

I like it. Excellent job!
