novaculite blade

gutpile:
just made a killer novaculite blade. scars are perfect... however you can't really see them .. wet blade and they pop... dry .. nothing..lol... gray and white material... any suggestions... tru oil.. not a fan... wax? if it had a lil sheen they would really show...its been heat treated or so I was told... gut

JEB:
Drip white wax on it ( many spots on the blade) and carefully (cuz its hot) hold over a torch to melt and spread the wax over the blade. I rub the wax in with a paper towel. Do both sides. After the blade cools off buff the blade with a cotton shirt. This will shine it up and cover small blemishes/steps.  I do this to all my points and blades. Really makes the blade/point look nice.

gutpile:
thanks JEB ..I'll give it a try... I know cooking it should add sheen but it is already treated.. no steps or blemishes.. came out really nice... gut..aka. kirk

worked like a charm ... thanks jeb
