Surewood shafts (Douglas Fir)
(1/1)
Black Moshannon:
I’m going to be using them to make a batch of field point arrows. Mine will be 11/32 spined 55-60 pounds. What’s the highest weight I can expect just the shaft to be? Hoping for high weight to match my shoot arrows
Mesophilic:
I use alot of Surewood shafts and find in the 50-55 pound spine range each shaft tends to weigh 350 to 400 grains. So cut to 30" wifh a 125 grain glue on point my finished shafts tend to be in the weight range of 475 to 525 grains. Each batch is slightly different so your results may vary a little bit.
Black Moshannon:
Ok I found out I can get them in that spine range from 450-460 grain weight. That is good, will be adding 160 grain field tips so hoping I can end up with around 650 grain total weight arrows which is closer to the weight of my wild rose arrows.
