Highest grit sharpening stone?

(1/2) > >>

paulc:
What grit do you all use? Lowest to highest?

Thanks, Paul

Stoker:
Coarsest stone I own is 80 grit, Finest 2400 Japanese water stone. In my pack for a stone I carry 220
Thanks Leroy

RyanY:
Lowest I use is 220 unless I’m starting the edge. I have a 1000/6000 combo stone that works well. I use a strop after with green compound that gets it pretty sharp.

paulc:
Thanks! P

Hawkdancer:
Not sure if the grit, but use Lanskey diamond stones fine through coarse, leather strop, and a ceramic plate about 12,000 grit, if I remember correctly.  When and if I sharpen!  Also have an Arkansas stone 3 grit set, several diamond tools. (lol)
