Aspen arrows?

(1/4) > >>

scattershot:
I have seen a couple of posts here mentioning aspen arrows. The stuff grows everywhere in the mountains here, and I was wondering if anyone has used the wood extensively for arrows. Being a relative of birch, I would think it would make a great arrow.

Any thoughts?

Hillbilly:
Pat has a really nice looking aspen arrow made by Art Butner. We have some bigtooth aspen growing here, but I've never tried it. BTW, aspen isn't related to birch, it's in the willow family.

Pat B:
I have an aspen arrow that Art Butner made for me. He really likes aspen for arrows I believe.     Pat

DanaM:
Pat is it from split timber or a shoot? Lots of quaking & bigtooth aspen up here. may have to try some.

Pat B:
I believe it was split stock. This one has a walnut footed nock and pile end.   Pat
