First knife made In the forge! (and a question)

(1/2) > >>

Fox:
This is the first knife I've made all the way! file metal, osage, and deer antler overlays(?) with scrimshaw in the antler (that was lots of fun) I made this one for my moms birthday :)

on a side note... I had a question about bevels... I had to regrind this edge like 3 times and it still isn't what I want really... I couldnt get a perfect flat taper, it kept getting round which really makes it less sharp... I am not sure if I explained that well or not but hopefully you can decipher what I meant  :)

Don W:
What are you grinding with (2x72 grinder, belt sander, grinding wheel, etc) My first couple knives I used a lot of hand sanding to get things right.  Definitely not bad for your first one.

Fox:
I’ve got a hand grind wheel but I can’t get anything right with that... mostly I just use a file ...

Hawkdancer:
Fox, you might try getting or making a bevel guide.  I haven't used a 2x72, so can't advise  there.

Try something like this https://bladesmithing.timetestedtools.net/knife-31-santoku-with-hand-sanding-details/

Or make a jig like this, but with the bevel angle instead of the sharpening angle
