Lookin' good so far! How wide is the sal?
Any more details on the quiver? How is that made?

Aaron H:
Thanks guys. Mid sal measures 35mm wide.  The quiver is made up of 16 pieces of maple on the main arc, which I now feel was a bit much, but I wanted it to have a smooth radius with no transitional breaks.  I used a form to build two arcs out of some laths and then glued tapered and beveled strips to create the body. Then I glued on a bottom piece of walnut, and I both lined the inside and covered the outside in thin goat leather.  I still need to finish up on the opening and reinforce it with antler.  Then I will hammer out some steel rods for reinforcements just like the artifacts found at a number of Hungarian grave sites from the 9th to 11th century.

stuckinthemud:
Absolutely loving this. Does the 11mm mid sal include horn and sinew?

gifford:
Aaron - very nice looking bow and quiver. Well done.

Aaron H:
Hey thanks Dan!  Stuck, yes that 11mm is horn, wood core, and sinew combined.  The horn measured 3,7mm , the wood 3,7mm and after drying the sinew measured 3,6mm.
