Brood X Cicada watch

Parnell:
The press is on with news stories.  I saw CBS Sunday Morning had a bit on it today.  JW, that’s fascinating about the Kestrels.  We get swallow tailed kites that come up from S America in March.  They are so amazing to watch fly, it would be a kick to see them feed on this type of thing.

A-Rob, it looks like you are in a predicted hot spot. I am wondering how accurate these maps are.  West Ohio is in the zone but East isn’t.  I’ll be curious to see the difference next month.

Keep us posted!

Hawkdancer:
We are likely too far west to see this, but I might be able to hear them if they were here!

I really like cicadas! That is... when they are not driving me insane   ;)

Funny story...
20 years back, come July, my brother and sister in law came out to Kansas for a visit from California. After a couple days the SIL comments "I thought it would be quieter out here in the country. Are there power lines near by?"
She was hear the buzz of the cicadas for the first time.  ;D
