Digital Caveman:
I think it is American Elm, I don't know for sure,  I cut it 17 months ago tomorrow.  It is very bendy wood, I have a 67" 45-50# pyramid bow 5/8" out of the fades made from this stuff.  The longest elm is 85" measured around the curve.  The next is 66".  I can cut to length of course.

BowEd:
Is it all sapwood? No heartwood?I've got plenty of red elm here I don't care for.It has heartwood. If so I'll send you an email for pictures. Then the question will be what I have you'd like.Antler, cured and straight 32" dogwood shafts, pair of water buffalo horn slats for horn bows, stripped and ready to cut & glue turkey feathers,a tanned prime coon hide, cut to size beef rawhide, beef rawhide lace,2" wide 3' long deer rawhide strips for backing bows, pairs of flathead fish skins, pair of sturgeon skins, pairs of birch bark strips for bow backs. Will have an extra brain tanned smoked doe hide later this summer.Do have some chrome tanned russet colored deer hide.

Digital Caveman:
The sap wood is about 3/4" thick on one end and 1" thick on the other end of both staves.

BowEd:
