Hickory flatbow stained with roots and flowers
« on: June 01, 2021, 12:58:48 am »
Here’s the latest one. Bitternut hickory with deer suede and lace handle, dyed with bloodroot and yellow flowers. I also left the inner bark on the back and stained it with steel wool and vinegar. About 38# at 28” and a bit over 40# at 30”

The tiller is a bit funky on this one, in part because of a reflexed dogleg in the lower limb. Visually the tiller  looks overly positive at brace but I’m happy with the tip movement and set. I heated in about 3” reflex and lost about 1/2” in each limb.

I think it looks really good.  I’ve got a bow with a dog leg like that, going.  It’s strange how it plays with my perspective of the bow.  But, if it’s all working and shoots well then “irregular” bows are very cool!

Very nice work and that peg board of yours is impressively organized!
