Top Secret Classified Flight Arrow

bjrogg:
I’m a private pilot with a little knowledge of aerial dynamics.

I have very little knowledge about flight arrows.

Know the ones Arvin sent me are very aggressively barreled.

The point of balance is very close to center.

I’m sure good arrow flight is very important with as little drag as possible.

I suspect any lift would create a lot of drag. If it could be deployed at the apex of flight and give a perfect glide path it could work. If it isn’t perfect I think you would just introduce extra drag.

I would love to have someone prove me wrong

A wind tunnel might help.

maybe if the vanes could lay down when not needed as much and spring up more when the arrow needs extra stability.
thinking here of Alans comment above
