How to rabbit hunt?

(1/2) > >>

Russ:
Ok i basically have the same question as the squirrel hunting one. Rabbit season opened sept. 1st for Nebraska so for my 3 day weekend im hoping to be able to go out a little and hunt both squirrels and rabbits. any suggestions? tips? thanks!

Pat B:
Spot and stalk. Keep a close look out for an eye, might be all you can see if it is hunkered under a bush. Also, if you run one off just sit tight. They will usually come back to where they were hiding.

Morgan:
Also, if you are moving slow and jump one, stop and watch him close. Often they won’t run far and stop behind cover close and sparse enough to offer a shot.

WhistlingBadger:
All good advice.  I usually spot them in rocky areas or on the edge of brushy spots.  They tend to be more active morning and evening, or all day if it's really cold.  I tend to break a few arrows when I'm hunting bunnies because of where they live.  Remember, that's part of the game.  I keep score:  If I kill more bunnies than I break arrows, I win!

We've had a string of terrible rabbit years, so I hope we're about due for a good one.

Russ:
Thanks guys!!! I just gotta find the place where the rabbits are!
