Mountain Lion

(1/4) > >>

Mike Yancey:
Just got back from my third try to take a New Mexico Mountain Lion and got a dandy this time.

Took this huge tom with a Southern Mountain rifle that I built with a 45 caliber A weight Gain Twist Colerain barrel shooting a conical bullet. Great hunt and we had some steaks out of the meat tonight and it was out of this world good.

WhistlingBadger:
Nice score!  Did you hunt it with dogs?  Spot and stalk is pretty tough with lions!   ;D

Hawkdancer:
How big is that cat?  My guess is over 8 feet, tip to tip!  Nice hunt!

Gimlis Ghost:
Never thought about any kind of cat being edible till I read of a service in New York State that supplies meat from euthanized zoo lions to certain ethnic groups who require lion meat for their coming of age ceremonies.
I suspect mountain lion meat would raise a man's testosterone level.

Of course during the closing days of WW2 starving German civilians prized domestic cat meat, which they called "Roof Rabbit".

PaulN/KS:
Congratulations Mike. That is one big mountain lion Sir.  :OK
I'd heard that the meat of those is supposed to be very good, glad to hear it's true.
