Shooting feral hogs from helicopters with machine guns? only in Texas! :-M (-_)
Sounds like Mad Max in the A-pork-alips!
Hawkdancer:
Interesting! Didn't feel like giving my email to read the whole article, though. Texas apparently has some weird hunting laws and practices.

O, I was afraid it might not be totally open access. :-\
The short of it is that wild hogs are such a problem in Texas that they are taking extreme measures to control them, including the 'Pork Chopper Bill' that legalized the helicopter stuff.

I know a group who went last winter. I didn’t link to the article either. I don’t know if it was the same operation or a different one. I suspect a different one. It was a smaller helicopter. They trailered it from one location to another and took off and landed on the trailer. It sounded like a experience you would not soon forget. I don’t want to talk numbers, because I probably would get them wrong anyway. I will simply say. By the numbers taken. There must be a huge farrow hog problem there.
I personally would enjoy the helicopter ride. I have my private pilot fixed wing. Have always wanted to try rotor craft but man those things cost a lot of dollars to maintain.
