Az normally I make a practice arrow and then remove its point and haft stone point slightly less weight. Between glue and sinew come in about same weight.

I don’t really “practice” with these stone points, but I do shoot them at least once to make sure they fly right. I use a couple pieces of 4” foam insulation. I leave about a foot space between the foam . They may pass thru but usually they are going pretty slow by then.  I’ve also used my black hole target but it pretty hard on my target and sometimes they are hard to pull out.

PS Rob I really like these river cane shafts I’m starting to get pretty low on them.

BJ I was wondering because I plan to hunt this year with stone points and I’m trying to figure out how to practice with it.  I guess I can weight the point and just add some tip weight to match.  Then remove the practice head and haft the stone point before I go hunting

Pat B:
Whatever arrow(s) you plan to hunt should be shot with the point you intend to hunt with. I have a rubberized foam target I shoot hafted points into. Some use a sand pile or straw bails.
