I finally got started and made a little progress tonight. I’m going for a bamboo, black cherry, persimmon trilam. Using my handsaw I got a couple cherry lams ripped from a stave and a persimmon lam ripped. Then I split the remaining chunk of persimmon into approx 1.5”X1.25” for a pair of English longbows. The cherry is front profiles and I started on the profile of the persimmon before I had a small crack at a tip splinter off, so I super glued it back. Once profiles I’ll work on think my and tapering the core and belly pieces before moving onto the bamboo.

Gonna be an interesting build man. Can’t wait to see progress pics. Keep ‘em common.

Looking for an update from people. A few haven’t posted their initial stave yet (you know who you are!). I’m putting the final finishing touches on option “a” (bamboo backed yellow heart) and am shooting in and sanding option “b” (bamboo backed yew). Neither is perfect but both are shooting acceptably.

Yeah , I know who I am, I have a nice but narrow yew stave and a couple of very nice apple lengths, all of which will do draw weight and draw length. I also have a really nice wych elm stave but it’s 49” long so won’t make draw length. I might still make a bow from it as I fell a little bit in love with the elm shorty linked in his Dano thread by Marc St Louis
