Deer legs for pouches

(1/2) > >>

BowEd:
For those interested. Here's some deer legs just salted heavily or pickled/dried/softened and oiled with neats foot oil. Then sewn together and more than pliable enough for pouches.

Stoker:
Those would make a great pouch or a flap for one
Thanks Leroy

White Falcon:
Nice

BowEd:
Thanks fellas.I'll have to sew some leather to it to complete the project.Might make some belt loop type pouches.
The deer leg leather thickness is just right for pouches.

Ed,

We must be operating in the same universe.  I have been experimenting with the hides from deer legs that I have extracted the tendons from for sinew backed bows.  I have salted them but have not softened them with oils.  The end result is hair covered rawhide which I intended to use on bow handles.  I have left the back toes on a couple with the idea maybe incorporating them on the handle covers as arrow rests.  I am not sure if this has been attempted in the past.

Thanks for sharing your post.
