Thick keokuk
Russ:
I hope everyone is having a good day!
This is from a pretty large keokuk spall I got from a friend. I worked on it for the better part of an hour. It’s got great shape, but it’s a little thick. Might switch to indirect and see if I can do some aggressive thinning.
I’ll update you guys when It’s (hopefully) finished!!!
Wolfmanjack:
I recently bought some keokuk off the internet, I have found I have to use a good bit of finger support when using indirect percussion otherwise it just wants to step.
Russ:
That’s what I’m finding Wolf. But when you have the right support, flakes come off really nicely!
Wolfmanjack:
Varying my striking and the amount of support pressure is how I thinned this one down. It seems to be a feel thing and I can see myself easily taking too much off by being less than careful.
Russ:
Well… it broke…. Darn… I was pretty hopeful for this one. But hey! Right after it I fluted my first point! It’s only a rock after all
